Help Shelter Pets for FREE by Playing Trivia! Experience Project

I ran across this cool social networking site called Experience Project. I haven't explored the site itself too much, but I did see this: You can play trivia, and for each correct answer, the Experience Project will donate the equivalent of one kibble of cat or dog food to the Rocket Dog Rescue and the Urban Cat Project.

You don't have to register to play, but registering will let you access the other features of the site, and helps you earn bonuses. Check it out -- have fun playing trivia, and help shelter pets at the same time, for
FREE!

Attention Pet-Loving Bloggers: Contest!!

Greetings!

Cindy at Contests & Challenges has posted a contest with neat prizes AND...the best part is, the contest helps shelter pets!!

I've posted about this before, but it's definitely worth reiterating. Add an Animal Rescue Site widget to your sidebar, like the one you can see on the right hand of my site, and you are eligible to participate in Cindy's contest.

From Wildcatsthree:

I received word from a friend of mine who is a foster mom for Lil Paws Rescue that the Animal Rescue site is experiencing a low number of clicks, and therefore is not getting enough sponsor money to buy food for the rescued animals.

If you have a website or blog, and would like to help the Animal Rescue Site by displaying their clickable widget on your site, click here. Once on the page, look in the upper left corner for "Link to us." That will take you to the page where you can choose your widget, and get the code to paste into your template.

This is such a worthy cause. It costs you nothing, but can go a long way in helping feed the rescued animals until a permanent home is found for them.

Here are the guidelines for Cindy's contest:

"1.) Get the widget and place it on your blog or web page. (the instructions for doing this are in the italicized portion above) Added note: it does not matter if you've had the widget for ages- you can still leave a comment and be entered in the contest-every widget counts in helping the animals.

2.) Leave a comment on this post linking to your post and telling me that you've placed the widget on your page. Please, and this is important: include your e-mail address in your comment so I can reach you if you're the winner.

3.) This one's optional, but it would help spread the word. Write a post like the one I copied (above) from Wild Cats Three and include the appropriate links.

That's it. A winner will be selected randomly thirty one days from today (February 29th)from the list of comments.

The prize is twofold.

First the winner will receive this pin. It's all gold in color (camera made shadows) and that's a real pearl in its' paws.

and second, a donation of $20 worth of pet food will be given to our local chapter of the SPCA in the winners' name.

You may comment once daily throughout the contest for multiple chances at winning."

Three FAST, FREE, EASY ways to help shelter pets through the power of your computer!

Calling all pet loving bloggers!

Several weeks ago, I posted three things that bloggers (or pretty much anyone with a website, or anyone that uses the internet) can do to help shelter pets using the power of the internet.

Here's three more FAST, EASY, and FREE things you can do online to help shelter pets!

1. Join the Care2.com network. This is a social networking site with all sorts of great features that focuses on social issues, such as pets in need, saving the environment, and helping stop violence against women. One quick thing you can do EVERY DAY, is to click on each of the free "click to donate" items, particularly the button to help pets in need.

Add a button to your site, like the one seen at the top, right hand side of my page, to remind your visitors to click for free to help pets in need.

2. Post an ad on Craigslist. If you are a Craigslist user, you can make a huge difference for shelter pets looking for homes. Simply go to your local animal control website, or to Petfinder.com and find a pet that tugs at your heartstrings. Go to an appropriate Craigslist city, and post an ad for that pet, making sure to include the appropriate contact information for the pet. Anecdotal evidence suggests that shelter pets that are advertised on Craigslist have a much better chance of being seen, and being adopted.

3. Add an ASPCA widget to your page. As you can see, I've got one of these on the right side of my page. Add an ASPCA widget to your page and help raise funds to fight animal cruelty. It's a really fast, easy way to help raise funds and raise awareness on behalf of the ASPCA.

GoodSearch: Donate to Your Favorite Charity Just By Searching

Who Do You GoodSearch For?

GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

We all make dozens of internet searches every day. Now, using GoodSearch you can donate at least $0.01 to your favorite charity every time you do a search. GoodSearch uses Yahoo search results, so rest assured, it's a powerful search tool. GoodSearch is an AWESOME and FREE way to help your favorite animal charity!

One cent per search may not sound like a lot of money, but if you're making five searches a day, that's $0.05. Multiply that times 100 supporters doing five searches a day, and that's $5.00 for your favorite charity. Multiply that times one month, and that's $150.00 for your favorite charity, and all you had to do was use GoodSearch as your search engine.

If you personally do five searches a day through GoodSearch, and your family and your friends do the same, the revenue generated for your favorite charity really adds up!

Using GoodSearch is easy! Simply go to GoodSearch and select a charity to support, then search just as you normally would. There are hundreds of charities using GoodSearch. If your charity is not included in the list, contact them and encourage them to join today! You can also easily set GoodSearch as your homepage, or add it to your toolbar.

So, who do you GoodSearch for?

I GoodSearch for Saving Shelter Pets, Inc., at home and Saving Georgia Dogs at work.

Drop me a line and tell me who you GoodSearch for!

Calling All Pet-Loving Bloggers!

Dear Pet-Loving Bloggers,

As you may very well know, your blog is a very powerful tool, and as someone involved in online animal rescue activities, I can tell you from first hand experience that bloggers can help save and improve the lives of shelter pets.

Here are three quick, easy things you can do to help needy pets:

1. Post a link on your page to Petfinder.com or Blogroll it, add a Petfinder widget to your webpage or blog, or add a Petfinder search banner to your page.

2. Add a link to your page to the Animal Rescue Site or Blogroll it, add an Animal Rescue Site Button to your page, like the one seen on the right side of my page, and remember to click on this link daily to help feed shelter animals!

3. Find a pet on Petfinder.com that tugs at your heartstrings (don't worry, it won't take long to find one), and post its picture, biography, and the shelter contact information in a post on your blog. The more exposure these pets get, the better their chances for adoption.

These are just a couple ways that individuals can make a difference in the lives of shelter pets using the power of the internet. Stay tuned for more simple ways you can help animals online.

Thanks for helping!
